It’s going to take some time, but I’ll get the locals trained not to talk politics with me. Swear to God that I will.

Very sneaky

I know what Stephen Harper is really up to in Quebec. He’s going to help them build a firewall, and this is just the first step. I’m cool with that so long as Alberta gets a firewall, too.

Eastern creeps and bums

There’s a bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth over at The Babbler’s site over the derision that parts of Ontario and the East Coast are wont to receive from The Prairies, particularly Alberta.

Look, guys (and gals), in case you haven’t noticed, a significant portion of your population has a nasty habit of throwing in with a bunch of crooks and fraudsters. Did it never occur to you that others, like the folks in Alberta, would eventually notice the crowd you run with and decide that a fair number of you are nothing more than a bunch of fucking assholes? Because you are, and your voting record proves it. That sort of thing just doesn’t sit well with those who value honesty and personal responsibility.

Respect is earned, not freely given, so here’s your steaming cup of STFU right back at you whiners in the east. You know what you have to do if you want to be taken seriously.

Time for a Suicide Bill?

In the corporate world, shareholders can create a suicide pill to prevent hostile takeovers by financial predators.

The financial success of our province is drawing similar interest from the financial predators in Ottawa. Perhaps it’s time we created our own version of a suicide pill? I call it the ’suicide bill’ — specifically, provincial legislation aimed at making financial takeover attempts by Ottawa as unpalatable as possible. Any imposition of a carbon tax (or equivalent) on this province will automatically trigger a secession referendum within 30 days. The referendums will re-occur every 90 days until the infringing tax is removed and all stolen monies returned, or Alberta secedes from Canada.

Yes, it’s a Scorched East Policy. No need to thank me.
